FAQ
Questions about AI visibility
These are the questions buyers actually ask me about AI visibility, answered straight. In short: it builds on SEO but isn't the same thing, results are measured by running real buyer prompts every month, nobody can honestly guarantee you'll be cited, and yes, I use AI in the work and check every claim by hand.
What is AI visibility, and why does it matter now?
AI visibility is whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews mention and cite your company when your buyers ask them questions. It matters now because more buyers ask an assistant before they search, and an assistant gives one answer instead of a page of links. If you're not in it, you're not considered.
Isn't this just SEO?
It builds on SEO but isn't the same. SEO earns a position in a list of links. AI visibility earns a place inside the answer itself, which depends on whether your content can be quoted cleanly, whether AI crawlers can reach it, and whether the web describes you consistently. Good SEO helps, but it doesn't guarantee any of that.
My rankings are fine, so why am I not in the AI answers?
Usually for one of four reasons: AI crawlers are blocked in your robots.txt or at your CDN, your key facts sit in images, PDFs or JavaScript, your pages don't contain a short self-contained answer worth quoting, or other sources describe you inconsistently. Rankings measure none of these, so a well-ranked site can still be invisible to assistants.
How do you measure whether it worked?
By running the same agreed set of buyer prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini every month, by hand, and recording whether you're cited, ignored, or replaced by a competitor. Every result is screenshotted and dated. I also track answer-box ownership on Google and the AI citation data in Bing Webmaster Tools, which most companies have never opened.
Can you guarantee I'll be cited?
No. What an assistant cites is decided by the model provider, and it changes week to week. Anyone who guarantees you a citation rate is guaranteeing something they don't control. What I guarantee is that the agreed work ships on the agreed dates, and that every report tells you the truth, including the months nothing moved.
How long does it take?
The technical foundation takes about a month. New answer content goes out in months two and three. You should expect to judge results over three to six months, because crawlers, indexes and models take time to pick up changes. After that it's maintenance: assistants regenerate their answers, so staying cited needs monthly attention.
Do you need access to my website?
Not for the free check. It uses only what's publicly visible. For paid work, access to your CMS, Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools makes things faster. If you'd rather not give access, I can deliver every fix as a precise written spec for your own team or developer to implement.
What do you need from me?
For the free check, just your website address, and two or three questions your buyers ask before buying if you know them. For paid work: a short kickoff, access or a contact who can publish changes, and anything that shows your buyers' real questions, such as support tickets, sales-call notes, site-search terms or reviews.
Do you use AI to do this work?
Yes, and I'd rather say so than hide it. Research and drafting are AI-assisted, which is why I can work quickly. Every factual claim is verified by hand against the raw source, and citation results come from actually running the prompts in each assistant, not from a tool that estimates them.
Why is the first check free?
Because I'm building a small number of documented case studies, and a free check is the fairest way to start. It's about an hour of my time, and findings arrive within three working days. If the findings are useful and you'd say so later, that's all I'd ask. If they aren't, you've lost nothing. You request it with two fields, your email and your website, and there's no call to book.
Do you work with competing companies in the same industry?
Yes. But findings about one company are never shown to another, not even anonymised. Each company's findings sit on a separate private page that only they can open, and the work I do for one is never reused as evidence when pitching a competitor.
